The Baader 2" Clicklock BHHS Adjustable Prism Star Diagonal is an ultra high quality 90° prism-type star diagonal. Utilizing BaK-4 glass and with Baader's exclusive Broad Band Hard Silver coating, this diagonal has 99% reflectivity across a staggering 390 - 2000nm spectral bandpass. This extended NIR range allows use with modern IR-sensitive CMOS planetary cameras with exceptional clarity. With a well trained eye, the BBHS coating provides in ultra-high contrast and richer colours on planets such as Jupiter, Mars and even the moon. The silver produces absolutely zero scattered light, which extra dielectric coatings protect it for a lifetime of use. Being a prism-type diagonal, it is not recommended for use with refractors faster than f/6 - f/7. In conjunction with the strong and lightweight aluminium body, the BBHS coating remains at thermal equilibrium in all situations and supplies a sharp, stable and calm image unlike any other diagonal. The BBHS mirror is mounted in a CNC-machined aluminium housing and rests stress-free on an adjustable cradle. Just like a high-quality refractor objective, the mirror can also be collimated. This allows the realisation of fully adjustable systems, for example for the construction of binocular telescopes. As with a premium refractor, you will not need to change the collimation during normal use: the 3-point alignment is set at Baader's factory so that the image shows no noticeable rotation around its centre when the star diagonal is rotated by 180° in a correctly aligned eyepiece clamp. Optical and mechanical axes are perfectly matched on Baader's optical test benches. Therefore, make sure to rule out all other potential sources of error – such as a tilted focuser – before adjusting the collimation. Note: once the collimation is changed, the warranty on the factory collimation of the BBHS star diagonal becomes void. All other warranty coverage remains unaffected. The Baader 2" Clicklock clamp allows extremely precise and even securing of heavy eyepieces and accessories without introducing any tilt or offset. The removable 2" nosepiece is threaded for 2" filters and includes safety kerfs to prevent the diagonal from accidentally slipping. The prism housing includes an S58 dovetail connection and M55 threads.
