A 1940s to 1950s Persian Bidjar rug from northwest Persia. The stylised flower and leaf motifs flow beautifully and are characteristic of this weaving area. The colours are warm bu t the palette is restrained with a predominance of pale blue, pale mustard and blue-black set on a soft red field. Finely woven with a high knot count which gives a robust structure. In good condition apart from slight loss to ends.
