Mike Howat is a NH-based painter. His work explores collective memory, Americana and urban isolation. Since earning his B.F.A. from New Hampshire Institute of Art in 2014, he has b een actively engaged in the New England art scene and exhibits regularly in galleries across the country. When not in his studio, he’s likely wandering the coast or the White Mountains. Show Title: In the Neighborhood Artist statement: I'm interested in finding moments in the seemingly mundane, and explore how we leave our mark on the places we live. People are absent in my paintings, but their presence is implied. With light, urban landscape and vernacular architecture as subject, I create subtle, ambiguous narratives of everyday life. Show more
