Backing is the line on the reel BEHIND your fly line to help you land those BIG fish that take all of your fly line and want MORE line after that. The purpose of backing is to fill up your reel to give you the maximum amount of line for fighting your fish. Not all backings are created equally - and we have a variety in stock to fit the needs of any angler. Backing is priced per 100 yards. The amount of backing that your reel will need is typically specified on the Reel manufacturer's website. We can make a suggestion if you need any assistance. The heavier backings for saltwater big game fishing are listed under Premium Saltwater Backing.
