Product FAQs What outer material is used? We use marine-grade vinyl, a durable and heavy-weight material made of 74% PVC and 26% polyester, that has been specifically constructed to withstand the harsh elements found in water and sun conditions. It has additional UV protection to prevent the color from fading in sunlight, and antibacterial and antifungal additives to make it mildew resistant. Piping, when used, also shares these values plus it won't crack or break. What foam is used? We use a medium-density, polyurethane seating foam with antimicrobial properties; a superior choice for outdoor use because it stands up to moisture and remains mold and mildew free. Recommended for occasional use. It is our policy to replace products whenever possible Product Guide Keeping the cushions in great shape Cover the cushions when they are not in use or remove the cushions and stow them in a dry, well-ventilated place. The sun will damage anything left outside. This is the main cause of faded and cracked cushions. If you want the cushions to last, they need to be covered or stowed. Preventative care Preventive maintenance is the key to keeping your cushions looking great and feeling supple. It is best to wash the vinyl with gentle soapy water and a soft rag and then dry thoroughly every time the boat is used. If mildew or sun damage gets a beachhead, it’s difficult to bring vinyl back to its original condition. Heavy cleaning For harder and stubborn stains, use warm soapy water and scrub with a plastic bristle brush. A marine vinyl cleaner that is made specifically to clean cushions can be used. Never use products with bleach, as this will shorten the vinyl and threads life span. Vinyl protectant A marine vinyl protectant, such as Starbrite marine vinyl treatment and 303 Aerospace protectant can be used to help extend the life of the vinyl. Pro tip: Caring for vinyl is straightforward, and it all comes down to keeping the cushions clean and protected from the sun.
