"Bad Seed" from Martha Freud's 2026 series of work, Rebellious Nature. Each pot is made from a crude black stoneware clay, left alive with grit and the marks of its own making. Eve ry vessel is loosely shaped like a seed: a pod impregnated with growth potential, waiting for provocation. In the ceramic body of Freud has pressed the phrase "Bad Seed", and hand painted the words in white porcelain. This vessel cannot hold water.
