Baklava is one of the few oils in our entire collection that genuinely challenges the pricing framework of the Kinana range. By rights — by the calculus that other vendors apply to oils of this provenance, age, and rarity — it should command well over a thousand dollars. It is wild Khao Yai, a source that is now nearly impossible to find at any quality, and it has been ageing in glass for over thirteen years. From the dipstick, the most unique and wonderful marzipan note rises out of the oil — the sweet marzipan icing of a particular kind of confectionery work, of a kind we have only encountered a handful of times across two decades of evaluation. It is mesmerising. There is a sugary, almost saccharine sweetness that is at once immediate and deeply layered, and you find yourself returning to the bottle just to confirm that what you smelled the first time was real. On the skin, that marzipan note continues, joined now by honey melon, tropical guava, banana, and a thread of green jungle running through the heart of the composition. This is not the typical fruity Trat signature. It is something altogether more exotic — a heady, tropical gourmand piece of olfactory work that is simply heavenly. We have priced Baklava where we have because we have always believed that an oil should be priced to its scent. By that measure, it is our gift to the wearer who knows what to look for.
