Instead of the traditional safety slots, it has two-inch grooves cut into its wooden ends to channel and grip the bands as the Bar bends radically under super-heavy weight. The difference between Earthquake and E-Maxx? A greater overall length (86.5″ vs 80″) for more band loading capacity, which allows for heavier lifts and maximum kinetic energy. The E-Maxx Bar can be custom-setup in a multitude of ways with both bands and weights. Jim Seitzer; a national-level bodybuilder and powerlifter, also one of the founding members of Westside Barbell. As a 35-year veteran of bodybuilding and powerlifting, Jim was no stranger to injury. The idea for the Bandbell®️ Barbell came when Jim was working through a shoulder injury. Being the motivated athlete he was, Jim started experimenting with exercises that would allow him to keep training despite the injury. He began benching with a 7ft oak broomstick, adding resistance bands and 25-lb kettlebells, hung from either end. This set-up allowed him to perform the bench press without pain.
