Sunland baobab in Duiwelskloof, South Africa is estimated to be 6,000 years old! It has dwelt and endured raging storms, drought, changing civilizations, wars, and the passing souls who sheltered under its outstretched arms. The baobab tree in the photo above lives on the Okavango Delta and if needed to, yes, I'd tie myself to it to save its life if anyone ever tried to destroy it. Called Moana in Setswana, this tree flowers large white flowers right before the much-needed rains come. Seeing those blossoms brings a sigh of relief to the parched lands beneath its trunk.
