While the previous work took inspiration from the vitality found in nature, Barcarolle draws from elements shaped by human life and culture throughout history. Beautiful, old European street lamps, historical churches and facilities, and the details of stairs and columns within them—by reinterpreting the decorative qualities of these elements, a form of portable lamp has emerged where eras and timelines dissolve, and classic and modern harmonize as one. Through advanced craftsmanship, the delicate details of each finely made metal component and the glass shade that casts silhouettes of light into space evoke a quiet presence and a warm glow, much like the serene atmosphere of still-life paintings from the Middle Ages. They become a comforting accent of light for contemporary living.
