Rigid Support and Fluid Protection for Bariatric Transport The Bariatric Transfer Sheet with Backboard Insert (Model 181YL-BB) upgrades the standard "Big Roger" design by adding a specialized sleeve for spinal immobilization boards. This hybrid system combines the flexibility of a soft stretcher with the rigidity of a backboard, allowing responders to move heavy patients with greater stability and less "sag" during transport. Key Features Integrated Backboard Sleeve: Sewn into the bottom to securely hold a standard 16” or 18” wide backboard, creating a solid platform for patients requiring spinal precautions or rigid support. Impervious Fluid Barrier: Constructed from two layers of heavy-duty nylon-reinforced vinyl that resists blood, bodily fluids, and water, making decontamination simple and effective. 700lb Load Capacity: Engineered with a centralized webbing system that crosses through the middle of the sheet to pool the patient's weight, preventing failure under heavy loads. Reinforced Lifting Points: Features double-stitched webbing with "Box-X" reinforcement at all stress points to ensure durability during multi-provider lifts. Why It Matters Moving bariatric patients on a soft sheet often results in the "taco effect," where the patient is squeezed uncomfortably. By inserting a backboard, you create a rigid floor that distributes weight evenly, protects the patient's spine, and makes it easier for the team to navigate corners or stairs without the load shifting unpredictably. How to Use Insert: Slide a standard 16" or 18" backboard into the designated sleeve on the bottom of the sheet. Position: Log-roll the patient onto the center of the sheet. Lift: Coordinate with your team using the 10 heavy-duty handholds (5 per side) to lift safely. Transport: Move the patient to the stretcher. The rigid insert helps maintain a flat profile. Clean: Remove the board and wipe the vinyl down with disinfectant. Technical Overview Weighing 90 oz (approx. 5.6 lbs), this unit is slightly heavier than the standard model due to the extra reinforced sleeve layer. It folds compactly into the included storage bag when not in use. The yellow color ensures high visibility in low-light environments. Compliance & Origin Made in the USA. - Berry Compliant
