The first thing I think of when I think of barite is its power to dispel dampness. Dampness is a climatic factor but it’s also a spiritual and emotional matter. It refers to what weighs us down, what makes us heavy, and what stays with us and lingers, becoming hard to clear and purify. Dampness occurs when groundedness has gone too far. The earth becomes mud. Barite clears and dispels dampness allowing us to experience free and light movement again. Think of what has had you stuck. What have you been unable to clear or move for months or years? What patterns have you almost given up on because they’re so heavy and set in place? Barite is a prime mineral in moving that energy. Barite is barium sulfate and has a very high specific gravity for a non-metal. This heaviness and denseness allows it to resonate with what is heavy and dense in living things. The sulfates then help lift the heaviness up and out. Barite is also protective and barium is used in modern medicine to protect living things from x-rays. We have found this mineral can be particularly protective in women’s health, shielding the uterus, ovaries and womb space in times of need for protection.
