Using all-natural materials means not every piece comes out "perfect". We love the practicality of that fact, and purchasing a Barn-Bin item comes with the knowledge that it's uniqueness makes it perfect in its own way! All our clearance Wool Bedding items listed as "Barn-Bin" are perfectly usable and will offer the same wonderful properties of our usual products. These items are "seconds" due to one or some of the following reasons: Incorrectly sized or a size we used to carry. A previous design or packaging. Weight is a little off, either slightly too soft or too firm. Thickness is more thin/thick than usual. Manufacturing marks or stains, or sewing or fabric blemishes. Prior Fabric and Design: These were made using a previous 100% cotton fabric before we sourced our current USA-grown and made cotton. The wool fill is not as lofty, and therefore slightly thinner than our current lineup for both the pillows and comforters. These comforters use about 15%-20% less wool than our current comforters. The main difference in "feel" would be the fabric, which won’t be noticeable when put in a pillow case or duvet cover! Uneven Fill: These pillows have a bit more character. The wool isn’t distributed quite as evenly as in our standard pillows. Some may feel loftier on one side or have a small dip near a corner. With regular use, the wool will compress down a bit, which naturally evens things out. They're just not as "picture-perfect" right out of the box. Thin: The loft inside these pillows are not as high, resulting in a thinner profile to begin with. They will be labeled with the approximate height out-of-the-box. For those who enjoy very thin pillows, these are for you! Marks / Stains: These may have marks or stains that occurred from manufacturing. This also includes fabric blemishes and sewing irregularities. Prototype: These are items made to fine tune the final product. Usually the weights are slightly different than our normal items. For Pillows, these are usually slightly softer than our normal pillows. For example, a Prototype Firm will be in-between our normal Firm and Medium density.
