8 new-batch beers from a one-man brewery built on a Hertfordshire farm Baron is a one-man operation, run by Jack Baron on a farm in Great Hormead, East Hertfordshire. The plan came together during lockdown, and after a year spent building and installing kit, Baron started trading in late 2021. Jack calls it a playground for beer: five fermenting tanks, refilled every three weeks, brewing whatever he fancies rather than a fixed range. Fuzz, his 4.5% hazy pale, is the one regular; everything else is a one-off or an infrequent repeat, so the beers in any box tend not to hang around for long. Seven of the eight beers in this box are brand new batches, fresh off the line. The one to watch is Aloysius, a 10% Salted Caramel Imperial Stout that's shaping up to be a standout, alongside a run of hazy pales, west coast styles and a hard-hitting DIPA. What's in the box: Crossed Swords, Hazy Pale - 4.2% Fuzz, Hazy Pale - 4.5% Wake-Up Call, WC Pils - 5.2% Razor Tail, Hazy IPA - 6.2% Playing the Fool, WC IPA - 6.5% Brush with Danger, NEIPA - 7% Knitted Baby, DIPA - 8.2% Aloysius, Salted Caramel Imperial Stout - 10% Baron Brewing is a guest box this month. Order before 24th August.
