Barrettine Creosolve is a safer alternative to creosote, a highly effective treatment for the protection of external wood, fences, sheds and posts. This solvent-based, oil, bitumen and wax timber treatment was developed as a safer, more environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional creosote. Designed for exterior use, it penetrates deeply into the wood to provide excellent water repellency, helping to protect timber from swelling, twisting and cracking while maintaining a traditional finish. Please note that this product is not suitable for decking or garden furniture. Ideal for fences, sheds, posts and other outdoor structures, Creosolve delivers reliable protection for rough, sawn or smooth timber. While it doesn't contain biocides or preservatives, it can be used alongside a suitable wood preserver for added protection against rot and insect attack. Available in light or dark brown, Barrettine Creosolve is applied exactly the same as the original and has a similar smell which will be familiar to traditional Creosote users. Key benefits: Solvent-based formula for deep absorption into timber. Oil, bitumen and wax blend with top effective water repellency. Helps reduce swelling, twisting and cracking. Safer alternative to traditional creosote with similar performance. Suitable for rough, sawn or smooth exterior timber. Ideal for fences, sheds, posts and garden structures. Traditional finish available in light or dark brown. Can be used over certain existing treatments, such as wood preserver (test first). How to apply: Ensure the timber is clean, dry and free from sealants that may prevent absorption. Stir well before use and mix multiple containers together to ensure colour consistency. Apply evenly using a brush or sprayer, working along the grain. Alternatively, timber can be dipped for approximately 20 minutes for deeper penetration. Apply 2 coats for best results, allowing 24-48 hours drying time between coats. Allow 24 hours' drying time before use and protect from rain during curing. Clean tools with white spirit after use. Top tips: For added protection against boring insects, rot, mould and algae, the wood can be pre-treated with Barrettine Premier Universal Preserver. Always test a small area first to confirm colour and compatibility. Not suitable for decking or garden furniture due to limited rub resistance. Rough timber will absorb more product and produce a deeper colour than smooth wood. Apply in dry conditions with no rain expected during drying. Recoat periodically as weathering occurs to maintain protection.
