The 8CBP is excellent across the tonal range. It happens to be the pickup that I currently have in my main bass (Brian). I recall when the Classic Bass series of pickups came out in the mid 2000s. Lots of players gravitated to these because they wanted the Bartolini tone but with a slightly brighter top end than was heard with their Bart’s deep tone pickups. This pickup, while having some added top end, does not sacrifice much, if anything to the low end. Still strong, pleasing lows and low mids that Bartolini’s are known for. The upper mids and treble range is more present in this pickup compared to the 8S. It is certainly not too hot in the top end, but very pleasing.
