Bartzella is an Itoh Peony with cheerful yellow flowers that draw in pollinators. Her blooms measure 6-8” in diameter and emit a sweet scent. We love her color-changing foliage tha t begins in shades of purple and brightens to a glossy green. When established, she can hold her stems strong even after a heavy rain and is hardy in colder climates down to zone 3. Please note that Peonies may take several growing seasons to get established before they reward you with armloads of beautiful blooms. Bartzella is sold as one root with 3-5 eyes. Fall Planting Instructions: Choose an area with at least 6 hours of sunlight with soil that has good drainage. Dig a hole 12-18” deep. Mix soil with an all-purpose fertilizer. Add the amended and loosened soil back into the hole. Place Peony roots 2-3” under the soil line with eyes facing upward, and then gently pack the soil over the roots. Water well. Show more
