As a Primer Coat When used as a primer, Base Coat prepares raw, repaired, or heavily sanded leather so color coats build faster and more evenly. Reduces the number of dye or color coats required Improves adhesion and color uniformity Ideal for bare hide and major repair areas When used as a Primer Coat, Base Coat must be followed by a Leather Dye Colorant and a Top Coat. 2. As a Color Base Coat (2-Step System) Base Coat can also function as a color base in a two-step system. In this use, it may be lightly tinted to help build color coverage before finishing.
