Color can be intimidating for anyone. Mastering color theory is essential for the dyer. In this class, we will be exploring the basic principles of color theory by starting with the three primaries and building our color wheel of twelve colors. At each level of understanding, participants will dye a 1/8 yd. piece of wool to demonstrate various color harmonies. There will be five exercises in total. Each participant will receive a binder with handouts/page protectors (for samples), a color wheel, disposable pipettes, lidded cups for dyes, one flat paintbrush, five pieces of 1/8 yd. wool fabric, and all consumables used in class. Gina Levesque is a dyer, rug hooker, and weaver. As a biologist, she finds the chemistry of dye baths fascinating. She has been dyeing for over twenty years and taught dye workshops throughout the United States.
