Description This compound appears as yellow-green to black-green crystalline blocks or powder with a metallic luster. It is slightly soluble in water, producing a reddish-purple solution, and is readily soluble in alcohol, yielding a red solution. It turns yellow-brown when mixed with concentrated sulfuric acid and becomes nearly colorless upon dilution.
