This course is ideal for those looking to create simple, one-piece moulds for flat or slightly 3D objects such as brooches or small sculptures. Over the course of the morning (9:30 am - 1:30 pm), you’ll learn about various types of mould-making rubber, tools, and techniques. Topics covered include: § The different types of rubber available § Mould types and real-life examples from our collection § Where to source materials § How to mix rubber and other essential materials § Setting times, temperatures, and other technical details § Laying up clay walls, using release agents, and degassing § Demoulding, trimming, and general care for your mould § Essential safety practices and equipment By the end of the session, you’ll have your own mould to take home, with the possibility to pour a small Jesmonite casting if time permits.
