Looking to start a career in the security industry? Our Basic Security Training (BST) course is a mandatory step for anyone who wants to obtain a Security Worker License in British Columbia. We are an approved Training Institute with the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC), delivering high-quality, hands-on training that prepares you for work in the private security sector. Why Take the BST Course? The Basic Security Training course in BC provides you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed as a licensed security professional. You will learn about: The role of private security in British Columbia Legal issues and responsibilities of security guards Proper documentation and report writing Personal safety and situational awareness Professional conduct and communication Upon successful completion, you will receive a Certificate of Completion, which is required to apply for your BC Security Worker License. Course Duration & Schedule 5 Days8:15 AM – 5:00 PM daily100% attendance is mandatory Course Materials Student workbook is included in your tuition fees. The textbook will be provided for use during the course and is also available for purchase afterward. Exam & Certification After completing the BST course, you must pass the JIBC Basic Security Training Exam to receive your final certification. Exam Fee: $65 (paid directly to JIBC, not included in tuition). Exam Booking: All exams are booked through the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC). Exam Options: Take the exam online (if you are located in Kelowna or another approved area). Take the exam in person at the JIBC New Westminster campus. You can find exam booking details and available dates directly on the JIBC website. Please note: We do not provide assistance with the exam booking process, but we will guide you on where and how to register with JIBC.
