About This Print: This photo was taken in a small village in Vietnam. It was taken at the same time as my other print titled 'Woven Through Time,' which tells the story of a woman quietly weaving fabric. In both photographs, the women are wearing clothing that had been made from scratch, by hand, using a method that had been passed down through generations of women. There is a meditation in both weaving the fabric and in Batik, the traditional technique of using wax-resistant dye to create patterns on fabric. The areas with wax remain white, and the rest of the fabric is dyed. In this area, the colour blue is often used as there is an abundance of indigo plants. The woman held a steady hand creating perfectly symmetrical lines, each pattern with a different meaning and symbolism. This technique is truly a form of art, with each piece being unique and full of intention. Both women proudly wear these garments, knowing that there is an invisible line connecting back to generations of women whose hands had once moved in the same way. - Ha Giang, Vietnam, 2024 A Spark for the Soul -This photo is meant to be more than decor; it’s a doorway, reminding you that you’re capable of far more than you imagine.
