In the past, I have had a hard time finding Split Ring Pliers with a small enough tooth for changing hooks on my jerkbaits. These are made specifically for that purpose. The tooth is tiny, and only at the tip of the jaws, so you cannot malform the split ring. Use these pliers at home to change, replace, or upgrade your treble hooks before you head to the beach. Leave these pliers at home, or in your car. Do not keep them on you while wading and fishing. They are not intended to be exposed to salt water, or they may rust.
