How to Lather Bay Rum Shaving Soap Let soap soak for a few minutes in your shaving bowl with warm water. Wash your beard with hot water to soften beard. Rub your wet but shaken out brush briskly in a circular motion over the top of the shaving soap. When lather starts to form, continue rubbing for about 45 seconds making sure the brush picks up soap. Build the lather by vigorously moving your shave brush in your shave bowl/mug or directly over your wet beard brushing vigorously coating the beard with soap, lather will start to build. Put a driblet of warm water on the brush and continue to work up the lather on your beard until the lather is thick and covers your beard.
