Bayport's origins trace back to three riverfront settlements named Baytown, Bangor, and Middletown. In 1856, a group of enterprising lumbermen, among them Socrates Nelson and David Loomis, platted the area for future development. These communities later merged in 1873 to form the Village of South Stillwater, which officially incorporated in 1881. To avoid confusion with the nearby City of Stillwater, the name was changed to Bayport in 1922. Bayport's 1925 Football team served as inspiration for this simple design .
