The bottom edge of the tool matches the radius of your ski pole for a perfect fit when measuring slope angle with your pole lying on the snow surface. Alternatively, a metal ball inside a liquid filled tube measures the slope angle when placed perpendicular to the snow, with a range of zero to sixty degrees.
