Let the wax melt completely. The first time you burn a candle, allow the entire top layer of wax to melt and reach the edges of the container. This creates a full melt pool and prevents tunneling, where the candle burns down the center, leaving wax on the sides. Don't burn a candle for more than four hours at a time to prevent a large, unstable flame, excessive smoking, and an uneven wax pool. Never leave a burning candle unattended Discontinue burning the candle when 1/4 inch of wax is all that remains in the jar.
