I was 18 before I saw the ocean for the first time. I had gone away to school on Long Island and a bunch of the “upstaters” skipped class one warm October day and headed for the beach. I was really struck seeing the flat horizon where the water met the sky. The water was freezing but it was one of the most refreshing swims I’ve ever had. When I saw the blue umbrella, it reminded me of that brilliant day in October. . DENNIS CRAYON Getting to know DENNIS CRAYON Dennis Crayon Realist Contemporary Realism I’ve earn a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from the State University of New York and later earned a diploma from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston in painting. It was there that he began to learn classical painting. I later moved to Washington, D.C., and studied at the Zoll Studio of Fine Art in Timonium, Maryland, fully delving into classical painting techniques and trompe l’oeil. I am an active member of Washington, D.C.’s artistic community. My work has been shown locally and nationally.
