"It was a chance plein air painting session at the beach at Flinders Bay, Augusta where I met the three Pied Oystercatchers that inspired this image. We spent a long time together in the wind and the rain tucked into the nook where the creek comes out on the beach. They are one of my favourite shore birds and always signify good luck for me. They lay their eggs between rocks and have hilariously unattractive babies with giant knobbly knees. You can always see them at Pinkies Beach at Rottnest or on the beach at North Thompson Bay, likewise they often frequent Redgate Beach where it is usual to see a group of Pied Oystercatchers with one Sooty Oyster Catcher ( all black) hanging out with them. They 'pip peep' as they fly, and are quite unafraid of people". Nb The smallest size print fits straight into IKEA Sannaed square frames using the white mount included.
