The name drake first appeared in the history of English fly fishing in1496 and then again in 1676 and they were talking about the adult mayfly and the use of male duck feathers. Th is fly has evolved because of a similar fly in Australia being the adult form of the Kosciuszko Mayfly dun. An interesting aspect of this nymph, apart from being the largest, it is one of the few burrowing nymphs in the rivers of Australia.
