The device will alert you and deter the animal. Standard backpacking bags (ie. 1.4 DCF, Nylon, Expac, etc.) will fail or rip before the alarm triggers. *Cordage used to secure a traditional food hang must have minimum tensile strength of 600 lbs. Any carabiners used must also be rated for this weight (for food hanging applications). For bags that are secured to tree trunks (ie. Grizzly Bear Bag), we have a pre-made adaptor sling that will be included in the kit. The sling has a tensile strength of 2500 lbs.
