N52, not "strong magnets" Every cheap mount claims strong magnets. Almost none of them say what grade. Bear Grip uses N52 neodymium, the strongest grade in consumer products. I measured the hold at over 1.5kg — around seven times the weight of the phone it was carrying (iPhone 15 Pro Max at 220g). Metal where it moves Plastic mounts don't fail in the middle. They fail at the hinge, because that's the part taking every adjustment, every fold, every knock in a bag. Once the hinge goes, the mount is finished. Where it's not built to hold The magnetic lock is strong, but it's not a clamp on your phone. I wouldn't use it on a bicycle or anywhere with hard impact and vibration — I've had my own phone come off hitting a pothole. Same goes for swinging it around by the clamp end while filming. Car, desk, tripod, shelf, headrest: that's where it's solid. If your phone ever does come off Check the adhesive ring is fully seated with no air bubbles, and if you're using a MagSafe case, check it's genuinely MagSafe — plenty of cases advertise it with weak magnets.
