The Beckhoff EL5001 EtherCAT Terminal Encoder Interface is a compact DIN-rail mounted EtherCAT terminal that provides a 1-channel SSI encoder interface for industrial automation, designed to plug into Beckhoff's EtherCAT fieldbus network. It converts signals from absolute SSI encoders into serial data that can be transmitted over the EtherCAT network to a PLC or motion controller, enabling precise position and motion feedback for CNC machinery, robotic systems, and packaging equipment. As part of Beckhoff’s EtherCAT terminal family, the EL5001 uses the SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) protocol and supports a single encoder channel, delivering real-time position data to drive motion control loops and synchronize machine movements. Common replacement options in the Beckhoff family include EL5002, EL5101, and EL5151, making the EL5001 a compatible choice for upgrading or integrating SSI encoder interfaces within existing EtherCAT installations.
