In the Mid 1800's this huge and wonderful hotel was built to replace a tavern on the site. This hotel with significant historical interest has over 200 rooms, and it was abandoned in a small town where tourism was rife and used to bring in a huge amount of people. Quite a few hotels in this area were empty and decayed. In its last years of its existence, in the late 90's, the hotel was used as a spa for public servants. It was an odd experience shooting here, I've shot in many abandoned hotels, but none as grand and as big as this. It felt so empty and lonesome in the bedrooms. Some bedrooms were so empty, some were full but still lifeless, some were packed full of decay and remnants of a former life. Its character and décor in the public areas enabled my imagination to go wild with all the possible types of people who stayed here. I instantly thought of The Grand Budapest Hotel! It was very interesting getting inside, a quite steep slippery climb over icy pipes, but so worth it. The views were tremendous and there were so many fantastic things to photograph. It is now being renovated and an interior designer who I have previously worked with is working on the project! This archival paper sets the benchmark for high colour depth and image definition. Framing Your artwork will then be framed to conservation standard The frame profile will be approx 40mm wide by 30mm deep.
