Painted in 2018, updated in 2022 Beech Mountain is one of the first places Rad Smith rode a ski lift and one of his earlier efforts at capturing a ski hill with his paintbrush. Inf luenced by the Mid-Atlantic maps created by his mentor, James Niehues, Rad also relied on his personal memories of skiing Beech Mountain to craft the resort’s map in 2018. Smith then retooled and updated the map in 2022. The summit of Beech Mountain towers to 5,506 feet above sea level making Beech the highest elevation resort on the East Coast. The ski area spans the Blue Ridge Mountains in western North Carolina and the community of Beach Mountain is the highest town in the Eastern United States. Show more
