A reproduction print of the Crossidius, or Longhorned Beetle, Lytta, or Blister Beetle, Bembidium, or Ground Beetle, Epicauta, or Blister Beetle, and Dasytes, or Soft-winged Flower Beetles, from the "Report upon United States Geographical Surveys, West of the 100th Meridian" by George M. Wheeler. The US Army Corps of Engineers surveyed over 361,000 square miles from 1869 to 1879 in pursuit of creating a detailed topographic map of the West. Wheeler's monumental work was published in 7 volumes from 1875 to 1889. The original lithographic print was prepared as part of the survey and was published in volume 5 of the collection in 1875.
