In this introductory course, participants will learn the method of stab binding to create a bound book. Stab binding was an early step away from scrolls to bound pages. Stab-bound books are held together with exposed stitching that passes through the entire text block, rather than a sewn spine. This is a hands-on and beginner-friendly 3-hour workshop. Participants will gain an introduction to basic tools and essential vocabulary, while exploring materials and techniques. Employing a traditional stitching pattern, participants will create their own unique, handmade book. Designed for absolute beginners, and appropriate for those with some experience.
