Purple Stripe One of the first garlics to emerge and to form scapes. The bulb is white and becomes more purple the closer one gets to the clove. It has a good garlic flavor. It can be stored for 4-6 months and has approx 60 cloves per pound. PURPLE STRIPE GARLICS A strong rich taste noted as a great roasting garlic. Noted for purple coloration and striping. This variety has tighter cloves skins which result in a longer storage time of approximately 6 months. Needs a cold spell ( vernalized) to grow into larger bulbs. The plants grow leaves wider to the stem and form a scape with a single full curl. Most have approximately 8-10 cloves per bulb and will yield approximately 50-60 plants per pound of seed. garlic growing guide
