Bell Tent Protector Cover – Waterproof Oxford & Heavy-Duty Ripstop Protect your bell tent from rain, bird droppings, tree sap, dirt and debris with our Waterproof Bell Tent Protector Cover. Designed to sit over your bell tent and provide an additional protective layer above the canvas, our covers are available in two fabric options: 95 GSM Standard Oxford – lightweight, waterproof protection115 GSM Heavy-Duty Ripstop Oxford – thicker, stronger ripstop protection Available for 3m, 4m, 5m, 6m & 7m bell tents. 95 GSM Oxford vs 115 GSM Ripstop Oxford Not sure which bell tent cover to choose? Both options provide waterproof protection, but there are important differences in their weight and construction. 95 GSM Standard Oxford Our 95 GSM Oxford Bell Tent Protector is the lighter of the two options. It provides a lightweight waterproof barrier over your bell tent canvas and is easy to fit, remove, clean and pack away. It's a great choice for general camping and occasional use. Best for: General camping, occasional use and customers wanting a lightweight, easy-to-handle bell tent cover. 115 GSM Heavy-Duty Ripstop Oxford For greater durability, choose our upgraded 115 GSM Ripstop Oxford Bell Tent Protector. The fabric is both heavier and thicker than our standard 95 GSM cover and incorporates a ripstop weave for additional strength. Ripstop fabric is manufactured using reinforced threads woven into the material in a grid pattern. This reinforcement helps make the fabric more resistant to tearing and helps limit a small tear from spreading through the material. This makes the 115 GSM Ripstop Cover our recommended option for customers looking for a stronger and more durable bell tent protector. Best for: Regular campers, glamping sites, campsites and customers wanting our strongest bell tent protector. Why Choose Ripstop? The main advantage of our 115 GSM Ripstop Oxford fabric isn't simply that it's heavier. The reinforced ripstop construction provides additional resistance to tearing. If the material is accidentally snagged or damaged, the reinforced grid is designed to help prevent a small tear from easily continuing across a larger section of fabric. This makes ripstop particularly useful for outdoor equipment where fabric may regularly be exposed to handling, branches, debris and repeated setup and packing. For maximum durability, we recommend our 115 GSM Heavy-Duty Ripstop Oxford option. Bell Tent Protector Specifications Standard Cover: 95 GSM Oxford Heavy-Duty Cover: 115 GSM Ripstop Oxford Waterproof Rating: PU 2000mm Seams: Internally seam-taped Sizes: 3m, 4m, 5m, 6m & 7m Waterproof protective layer Ripstop reinforcement on 115 GSM version Helps protect against bird droppings Helps protect against tree sap Helps keep leaves, dirt and debris off your canvas Removable and easy to clean Lightweight and easy to fit Suitable for cotton and polycotton bell tents Protect Your Bell Tent Canvas Bell tent canvas is designed for outdoor use, but keeping it clean can help maintain its appearance and condition. A bell tent protector cover creates an additional barrier above your canvas, helping protect the tent underneath from bird droppings, tree sap, leaves, dirt and other debris. This is particularly useful if your bell tent is pitched underneath or close to trees. Rather than cleaning the main bell tent canvas every time it becomes dirty, the protector can simply be removed and cleaned separately. Additional Waterproof Protection Both our 95 GSM Oxford and 115 GSM Ripstop Oxford covers have a PU 2000mm waterproof rating with internally taped seams. The cover creates an additional waterproof layer above your bell tent, helping reduce the amount of rain and moisture landing directly on the canvas. The protector should always be considered an additional layer and not a replacement for correctly maintaining and waterproofing your bell tent. Ideal for Glamping Sites & Regular Bell Tent Use Bell tent protector covers can be particularly useful for glamping sites, campsites, festivals and semi-regular bell tent setups where tents may remain erected for longer periods. For more regular use, we'd recommend considering our 115 GSM Heavy-Duty Ripstop Oxford Cover because of its thicker fabric and reinforced ripstop construction. Bell Tent Protector Cover FAQs What's the difference between 95 GSM Oxford and 115 GSM Ripstop Oxford? Our 95 GSM Oxford is the standard lightweight option. Our 115 GSM Ripstop Oxford is heavier and thicker and features reinforced threads woven into the fabric to increase resistance to tearing. If you want our strongest and most durable option, choose 115 GSM Ripstop Oxford. What does ripstop mean? Ripstop refers to the way reinforcing threads are incorporated into the fabric, usually creating a visible grid pattern. This reinforcement increases resistance to tearing and helps prevent a small tear from spreading as easily through the fabric. Is the bell tent protector waterproof? Yes. Both options have a PU 2000mm waterproof rating and internally taped seams, providing an additional waterproof barrier above your bell tent. Does the cover protect against bird droppings? Yes. This is one of the main reasons for using a bell tent protector. Bird mess lands on the removable protector rather than directly on your bell tent canvas. Will it protect my bell tent from tree sap? Yes. A protector is particularly useful when your bell tent is positioned underneath trees, helping prevent tree sap, leaves and debris from landing directly on the canvas. Can I use the protector with a cotton or polycotton bell tent? Yes. Our protector covers can be used as an additional protective layer over traditional cotton and polycotton bell tents. Always select the correct size for your tent. Can I use the protector with a stove? You cannot use a stove with a standard bell tent protector if the flue exits through the apex/roof area covered by the protector. If you want to use a stove while the protector is fitted, consider our Bell Tent Pro, which has the stove hole positioned in the side wall rather than through the apex. This allows the protector to remain clear of the stove flue. Bell Tent Pro Which is the best Bell Tent Protector Cover? For customers looking for the most durable option, we'd recommend our 115 GSM Heavy-Duty Ripstop Oxford Cover. For occasional use where low weight and easy handling are more important, the 95 GSM Standard Oxford Cover is an excellent choice. Important – Wind & Long-Term Use Bell tent covers and awnings have a large surface area and can catch the wind in a similar way to a sail. We do not recommend using the protector cover during high winds or severe weather. Always monitor weather conditions and remove the protector if high winds are forecast. Bell tent protector covers are also not designed to be used as permanent structures. Prolonged exposure to sunlight and weather can eventually cause UV deterioration to outdoor fabrics. To maximise the lifespan of your cover, remove, clean, fully dry and store it when it isn't required.
