Apple Yarns is happily nested in the mid-size community of Bellingham, Washington in the Pacific Northwest. With a vibrant beer brewing scene and love of the outdoors, each year in April our community comes together to celebrate the sunshine and diverse creativity that the many breweries bring to our city. A few years ago, Andrea designed this lovely hat covered in beer steins to get in the festive spirit. It turned out so cute we decided to use it for kits! Using fair isle technique, you only need to manage two colors at any given time - a great introduction to stranded colorwork! Aptly named, the Stein Happy Hat kit includes plenty of yarn in 3 colors to create your own beer-themed beanie, 6 stitch markers, a clear reusable bag for organizing, and a printed copy of the pattern. The pattern is sized adult, 19" to 22" head circumference. About the yarn: We chose 3 colors in Malabrigo Rios, 100% Superwash Merino, to get the closest match to Nancy Bates' sample beanie. Rios is machine washable and ultra-soft, making this a beanie you won't want to take off! Notes: This kit has been upgraded with additional yardage to accommodate a fold-over brim. This hat with the yarn and notions priced separately would be $64.96. The kit does not include needles. Pattern calls for US 5 x 16" (3.75mm) for the brim and US 7 x 16" (4.5mm) for the hat body, optional #7 double-point needles to finish. The original Stein Happy hat was knitted using Ultra Alpaca. Unfortunately, some of those colors have been discontinued and they are no longer available.
