The Benson Preamp is a FET-based preamp pedal derived directly from the circuit topology of Benson's Chimera 30-watt guitar amplifier. The vacuum tubes are replaced with FET transi stors, but the signal path and EQ structure follow the amp closely — the goal being a pedal that responds and feels like the front end of the Chimera rather than a generic gain stage.The gain range covers clean boost through overdrive and into fuzz territory, with the onboard Treble and Bass controls giving you meaningful tonal shaping at any gain level.
