Bergamote 000136 from Firmenich opens with bright, sparkling citrus — clean bergamot zest with a subtle herbaceous-tea undertone. It reads as brighter and more lifted than the natural oil, with a fizzy, almost champagne-like quality. Firmenich captive molecules give it a character you cannot build yourself. Natural bergamot oil is phototoxic. Remove the offending compounds and you get bergamot FCF, which solves the safety problem but often loses character in the process — most FCF oils are stripped flat. This base gives you the full Calabrian bergamot impression without that compromise, and with batch-to-batch consistency natural oil cannot guarantee. Use Bergamote 000136 as a direct substitute for bergamot oil or FCF in any fine fragrance formula. Fraterworks also carries its own bergamot reconstruction, Bergamot Reggio, built to the same purpose but with different character. Try both side by side to find your preference.
