Prunus persica 'Betty' A sweet, flavorful, and split pit-resistant peach was found as a seedling near Ferndale in Western Washington and was tested at the WSU Mt. Vernon Station. I t is self fertile and ripens late in the season, at the end of August for us here in Western WA. It has a deeper color than the variety Frost and is more productive. Betty has firm, semi-freestone fruit of excellent quality for making preserves, freezing, or enjoying fresh off the tree. Does not show much resistance to peach leaf curl. Late bloomer.
