Beyra is the project of Rui Robredo Madeira, who returned in 2011 to the remote village of Vermiosa in north-eastern Portugal — where he made his first harvest in 1987. At 700 metres altitude, on soils threaded with quartz, schist, and granite, he tends ancient vines of indigenous varieties that produce wines of rare complexity and identity.About This WineA Reserva from the Beira Interior — one of Portugal's most undervalued wine regions, bordering Douro Superior and Beira Alta. Minimal intervention in the cellar lets the high-altitude terroir speak clearly: aromatic intensity, firm structure, and a cool-climate freshness that sets it apart. Decanting is recommended as some natural sediment may be present.Tasting NotesColour: Deep ruby with violet hintsNose: Rich red berries, cherry, and blackberry with subtle vanilla and spicePalate: Dry and mineral with firm tannins and bright acidity; concentrated dark fruitFinish: Long and structured with lingering spice and earthy mineralityFood PairingExcellent with roast beef, Iberian ham, hard aged cheeses, or slow-cooked lamb.
