At Café Liégeois, we chose the Bezzera Luce Fast because it solves the one frustration that has followed heat exchanger machines for decades: the warm-up wait. The Luce Fast is the direct evolution of the beloved Bezzera Magica E61 — carrying forward the same proven E61 heat exchanger platform, copper boiler, and Italian build quality, then adding everything the Magica lacked: Fast Heating System, PID temperature control, integrated shot timer, and an externally adjustable OPV. The result is a machine that delivers commercial-grade E61 espresso the moment you're ready — not twenty minutes later. Whether it's a 6am weekday shot or a Saturday afternoon extraction session, the Luce Fast is as ready as you are. Why We Selected the Bezzera Luce Fast Fast Heating System — E61 Stability Without the Wait The defining feature of the Luce Fast over the standard Luce S PID. Bezzera's Fast Heating System acts directly on the brew group, dramatically cutting the time required to reach stable brewing temperature — without compromising the thermal consistency that makes E61 machines the benchmark for prosumer espresso. This is a factory-installed module, not an aftermarket add-on. For the Magica faithful: this is why you upgrade. The Luce Fast gives you everything the Magica delivered — plus the Fast Heating System, PID, and shot timer the Magica never had. Genuine E61 Brew Group — The Gold Standard The E61 group head is one of the most celebrated designs in espresso history — engineered in 1961 and still the reference for thermal stability and extraction quality at the prosumer level. The Luce Fast's E61 group uses thermosiphon circulation: hot water from the boiler naturally convects through the group at all times, keeping it at stable brew temperature without active heating. The result is consistent shot after shot, even during back-to-back service. 2L Copper Heat Exchanger Boiler — Brew & Steam Simultaneously The Luce Fast is built around a 2-litre copper heat exchanger boiler — insulated for enhanced thermal stability. The heat exchanger architecture means brew water and steam water are entirely separate circuits: you can pull a shot and steam milk at the same time, with no waiting between the two. Bezzera's preference for copper boiler construction over brass or stainless steel is deliberate — copper's thermal properties deliver more consistent temperature and more powerful steam. The result: 5 oz of cold milk steamed to serving temperature in approximately 16 seconds, with steam pressure recovering in ~11 seconds. PID Temperature Control + Integrated Shot Timer The PID controller lets you dial in brew temperature from 80°C to 100°C in precise increments — adjustable in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. Bezzera's PID displays the predicted brew water temperature at the group (not the boiler temperature), giving you a more accurate picture of what's actually happening at extraction. When a shot is in progress, the PID display automatically switches to function as a digital shot timer, accurate to the tenth of a second. One display. Two critical functions. Externally Adjustable OPV — Dial In Brew Pressure The over-pressure valve (OPV) is accessible from outside the machine — no case removal, no technician required. Adjustable from 4 to 13 bar with a single screw beneath the cup tray, it allows you to set brew pressure precisely for your beans, your grind, and your preferred extraction style. Nine-bar traditionalist or low-pressure aficionado — your choice. 4-Litre Water Tank — Back-to-Back Sessions The Luce Fast carries the largest water tank in Bezzera's compact E61 lineup at 4 litres — the same capacity as the Bezzera SOLE, and among the largest of any home prosumer machine in its class. Fill it once and run multiple consecutive sessions without interruption. Ideal for households, offices, and small service environments. Dual Pressure Gauges + Italian Design Two Italian-styled colour gauges display boiler pressure and pump pressure simultaneously — both always visible from the front of the machine. The Luce Fast is available in Chrome (Stainless), Matte Black, Matte White, and Matte Green RAL-coded panels, and can be further customized with optional wood accessory kits. Bezzera's iconic Biscione logo anchors the aesthetic. Designed and built at Bezzera's facility in Milan, Italy. 58mm Commercial Portafilter — Full Accessory Ecosystem The standard 58mm commercial portafilter size opens up the entire world of third-party accessories: precision baskets, bottomless portafilters, distribution tools, and more. Whatever you want to explore next — the Luce Fast is ready for it. The Luce Fast adds the Fast Heating System — the single upgrade that fundamentally changes how the machine fits into your daily routine. If morning coffee on your schedule (not the machine's) matters to you, the Luce Fast is the right choice. The Bezzera Legacy Bezzera is not a new brand chasing trends. Founded in Milan in 1901 by Luigi Bezzera — the inventor of the original espresso machine — the company has spent over 120 years refining a singular focus: the best possible espresso extraction. The Luce Fast carries that lineage forward, built at Bezzera's Milan facility using the same copper boiler philosophy and E61 craftsmanship that defines the brand. When you buy a Bezzera, you're buying a machine designed to be serviced, maintained, and used for decades — not replaced in a few years. That's why we carry them. Our Take The Bezzera Luce Fast is the answer to a question every E61 heat exchanger owner has asked: why do I still have to wait? Bezzera answered it properly — not with a thermoblock shortcut, not with a dual boiler workaround, but with a factory-engineered Fast Heating System that preserves everything that makes an E61 HX machine exceptional while eliminating its biggest inconvenience. Add PID control, a shot timer, an externally adjustable OPV, a 4-litre tank, and Bezzera's legendary copper boiler steam performance — in a machine that's been designed and built in Milan since 1901 — and you have one of the most compelling prosumer espresso machines available today. It's an ideal machine for: Home baristas ready to step into true prosumer E61 territory Bezzera Magica owners looking for the natural upgrade Those who want commercial-grade steam power and thermal stability at home Anyone who loves milk drinks and wants sub-20-second steaming Espresso enthusiasts who want to control and experiment with brew pressure Italian craftsmanship. Instant readiness. Uncompromising espresso. Frequently Asked Questions What is the Fast Heating System and why does it matter? The Fast Heating System is Bezzera's factory-engineered module that acts directly on the E61 brew group to dramatically reduce the time needed to reach stable brewing temperature. Standard E61 heat exchanger machines typically require 15–20 minutes to fully warm up before the first shot. The Luce Fast significantly cuts this wait — without compromising the thermal stability or extraction quality that makes E61 machines the reference for prosumer espresso. It's the primary reason to choose the Luce Fast over the standard Luce S PID. What is the difference between the Bezzera Luce Fast and the Bezzera Magica? The Luce Fast is the direct evolution of the Bezzera Magica E61 — it replaces it. Both are built on the same E61 heat exchanger platform with a 2L copper boiler. The Luce Fast adds what the Magica never had: the Fast Heating System, PID temperature control, an integrated digital shot timer, and an externally adjustable OPV. If you loved the Magica, the Luce Fast is the natural upgrade. What is a heat exchanger (HX) espresso machine? A heat exchanger machine has a single large boiler filled with hot water for steaming and hot water dispensing. Inside that boiler runs a smaller tube of brew water — the heat exchanger — which is heated by surrounding boiler water as it passes through, then delivered to the group for extraction. This architecture allows simultaneous brewing and steaming, unlike single-boiler machines that require switching between the two. The large boiler also provides exceptional steam power and recovery speed. Can the Bezzera Luce Fast be plumbed in to a direct water line? No. The Luce Fast is a tank-only machine with a 4-litre removable reservoir. It cannot be connected to a direct water line. The 4L tank is among the largest in any home prosumer machine in its class and is designed for easy refilling from the open top. What does the externally adjustable OPV allow me to do? The OPV (over-pressure valve) controls the maximum brew pressure delivered to the puck. On the Luce Fast it's accessible via a single screw beneath the cup tray — no tools beyond a screwdriver required, and no need to open the machine. You can adjust it anywhere from 4 to 13 bar to suit your preferred extraction style, your grind, or specific bean characteristics. Most users set it between 8–9 bar for traditional espresso, but lower-pressure profiles (6–7 bar) are increasingly popular for lighter roasts. Is the Bezzera Luce Fast compatible with an optional flow control kit? Yes. The E61 group on the Luce Fast supports an optional flow control device, which allows you to manually vary water flow during extraction for advanced profiling. This is available as a separate accessory. Contact us for availability. Which colour should I choose? All four colours — Chrome (Stainless), Matte Black, Matte White, and Matte Green — are RAL-coded panels on the same machine. The price is identical across all finishes. Chrome suits classic or mixed-material kitchens; Matte Black makes a bold statement; Matte White is clean and modern; Matte Green is a distinctive choice that pairs beautifully with optional wood accessory kits. All four can be further customized with wood accents sold separately. How do I maintain the Bezzera Luce Fast? The Luce Fast requires regular backflushing with the included blind basket and espresso machine cleaner (recommended weekly for daily users), periodic descaling based on your water hardness, and occasional steam wand cleaning. The E61 group's thermosiphon keeps the group clean through natural hot water circulation. As with all E61 machines, using filtered or softened water significantly extends component life.
