The Domus BF-2607A is a raw ceramic uplight — 365 mm wide, 50 mm high, 100 mm projection, taking one G9 lamp. Light emits upwards only. Made in Italy. ✅ You can paint it, and nothing said so. The datasheet is explicit: “ceramic areas can be painted with any water-based paint”. Painted the same colour as the wall, the fitting disappears into the plaster and leaves only the wash of light above it. That is the architectural use for a ceramic uplight and the reason to choose one over metal. ⚠ Paint it before it goes up, and keep paint off the lamp holder. The proportions — and why this one is different from its siblings At 365 × 50 mm this is a long, low band rather than a funnel or a box: ✅ Only 50 mm high, so it reads as a line on the wall rather than an object. Painted out, it is close to invisible by day. ✅ 365 mm wide spreads the wash across a broader arc than a narrow fitting — a softer, wider band of light on the wall above. 100 mm projection — enough to throw the light clear of the wall, slim enough for a hallway. Upward only — what that means in practice The wall above becomes the light source — a broad soft wash spreading toward the ceiling, with no visible lamp and no glare at eye level. It raises a ceiling visually, which is why uplights work in stairwells, hallways and rooms that feel low. ⚠ It gives nothing downward. You cannot read by it and it will not light a stair tread. This is atmosphere and architecture. ⚠ The wall above must be worth lighting. A grazing uplight shows every patch, bump and roller mark. On good plaster it is excellent; on a poor wall it is unforgiving. ✅ Its sibling the BF-2608B emits both up and down if you want light at floor level as well — ask us.
