We use this felt pad, made with 100% wool, to deburr and clean up any edges after every stone. The cool thing is that you can go on any angle, as hard as you'd like and this hard f elt pad can take the edge without rolling the edge of your knife over, which can sometimes happen with other materials. While you can use a phone book, wood, cork and other materials for deburring, this is one of the clean and organized set ups for this process. We highly recommend this.
