Suitable for Distilling & Botanical Maceration BIAB bags are made from food-grade nylon and are generally considered suitable for use with high-ethanol solutions used in distilling and botanical maceration. Ethanol compatibility: Nylon has good resistance to ethanol, including high-proof spirits (e.g. 95–96% ABV). It is commonly used in filtration bags and filter mesh for beverage and industrial applications. Temperature: Nylon is suitable for ambient-temperature maceration. It is less resistant to prolonged exposure to very hot alkaline or acidic solutions, but that is typically not relevant for ethanol maceration.
