The beauty of this gaiwan is found in the harmony between the glaze and the clay. We love this method of glazing that leaves the foot of the piece untouched and heaps the glaze on thick. It’s hard to explain how this makes the glaze feel soft in our hands. This piece is rough, heavy, solid stoneware that is anathema to porcelain.
